Book Club Productions presents an enlightening documentary about Pam Houston, popular author of four books and teacher of creative writing.

This DVD won an IPPY Award in May 2006: Finalist in the category of Writing/Publishing. “Recognizing Excellence in Independent Publishing," the "IPPY" Awards, (Independent Book Publisher Awards) are designed to bring increased recognition to the deserving but often unsung titles published by independent authors and publishers throughout North America and around the world.

The DVD includes a personal interview with Pam about her life, her ranch, her Irish Wolfhounds, and her writing process. Teaching antidotes and bookstore readings add to this unique perspective of the author.

Martin Buchanan performs scenes from his one-man play, an adaptation of Sight Hound, Pam's first novel, released in 1995.

While you may think you know Pam through her autobiographical writing style, you may be surprised to learn more about her life. "People often think they know me after reading my books, but I am usually pretty different than they expect." says Houston.

Pam divides her time between her ranch outside Creede, Colorado, and the University of Califonia at Davis, where she is director of the Creative Writing Program. Her books include Cowboys Are My Weakness, Waltzing the Cat (winner of the Willa Literary Award), A Little More About Me, and Sight Hound. Her stories have been in The Best American Short Stories, 1990 and 1999, and The Best American Short Stories of the Century. Pam has written for numourous magazines including, Oprah’s magazine, O, Elle, Outside, Ski, New York Times Travel Magazine, Golf Digest, Allure and many others.
